Fictional character name help: Winifred
Her name is Winifred Barnes. She's a mother of two (a son who's 15 and a daughter who's 12) living in modern-day USA.Since 'Winifred' is quite the mouthful, I assume she might have a nn. What works best?
Freda / Frida
Freddie
Winnie
Wynne
Something else? Also, it might not be important, but I'd like to have a middle name. Middle initial is C. Some possibilities...
Claire / Clara
Catherine
Cassandra
Caroline / Carol
Any other suggestions? Her children's names are James and Rebecca "Becca."So, essentially, I'm looking for a full name: Winifred C______ "[nickname]" Barnes. Any suggestions/input would be appreciated.

Your storyline went for old-school/consevative names, so I would guess it to be a family from a structured background or event a strict one. For that reason, I think Catherine might be best for the middle. A solid and classic choice for the conservative folk. Carol might work if it was honoring. Depending on your character's personality, I would either go bold with the nickname "Fred" if she is a bit rebellious against the staunchness of her youth, or I would go with a soft choice like Winnie, because that is the most recognizable nickname for Winifred and most likely to be used by her parents.
I quite like Winifred Catherine Barnes as a character name.

I like Freddie as a nickname for this character. As for middle names, I propose:
Cara
Carina
Carole
Celine
Cora
Cecile
CeciliaAlthough I do think "James Barnes" is very "z-ending heavy."

Winifred Clara sounds gorgeous. I like Catherine, Cassandra and Caroline but I think they're too long to go with Winifred. I think Frida and Winnie are old fashioned. They sound too old for a woman with teenage children. My favourite of the nicknames is Freddie and I also like Wynne.
