Re: László, and all the other names I wouldn't use
I love Arthur, and see no reason why you shouldn't be able to use it in the present day. Elijah, Jude, and Leo are also perfectly usable.Felix, Gabriel, and Hugo are nice names that I'm not personally fond of, but shouldn't encounter too much difficulty out in the so-called "real world" (Felix might get some cat jokes, but that's about it). Rafferty sounds quite... is "posh" the word? You can get the nickname Rafe out of it, though, and it would also make a dashing middle name.Basil and Stanley are a bit dated (particularly the former), although I did go to high school with a Stanley and he seemed to be doing fine.I checked popularity in the U.S. and Israel is #240 for boys right now in the states, with some past popularity in New Zealand and no known statistics for the U.K. Now, while the name isn't a recent creation and has enjoyed past usage, people today might think of the country first upon hearing Israel. I'm not offering an opinion on whether it's a good or bad thing, I'm just saying that the association would be there.A boy today named Elisha, Misha, Nikita, Laszlo, and Remy might have some difficulty in a primarily Anglophone country, considering the first three are also names of famous women (actress Elisha Cuthbert, actress Mischa Barton, and the main character in the movie "La femme Nikita"). Laszlo would probably make people think of "Casablanca" - or, if they're Whovians, a humanoid pig.
Please rate my personal short name lists (the latter includes combos):

Arthur, Felix, Gabriel, Hugo, and Stanley are all on here because they're in the UK top 100 :) Israel is on here for political reasons. Boys' names being feminine doesn't bother me - Misha and Nikita are on here because I'm not Russian!
