Hmm, I actually do like Stefanie better than Stephanie, but only slightly because it seems to make the name a little simpler and straightforward.

My husband is in love with this name so I tried out all the variations in an effort to like it (Stefanie, Stephanie, Steffany, Stephani, etc).

In all cases, the spelling looked just fine but the sound put me off.

I like the letter f, so I would say, yeah, Stefanie is an improvement to me.
