I've known a Blaise and a Blaize but really?!
Has anyone else known a Blaise in real life? To me, it's really not that unusual but I know Blaise gets asked what his real name is all the time (though it probably doesn't help that he has red hair, I guess people think it's a nn). What do you think of Blayz?

I know two guys named Blaise. One of them is about 30 and the other one is in his sixties. The younger one happens to be a redhead, too. The older one has black hair that's mostly grey now.
I can't make the connection to "blaze", but then again, my first language isn't English. (BTW, in France it is definitely all-male. No one here would call a girl Blaise.)

Sigh, not another one. DH and I knew a couple several years ago who had a son by this name. They proudly told us the spelling and it was so convoluted that I cannot remember how it was spelled other than it contained an e -- in the MIDDLE of the name. I'm still trying to figure that one out. Bleyze? Bleyz? Bleise? Who knows? I recall them adding a couple different letters from the default, Blaise.
Suffice it to say that I'm not a fan of Blaise no matter how it is spelled.

I LOVE Blaise, and do not like Blayz at all. I am ok with Blaize, because z is just a cool letter, though I prefer it with the original s.
I don't actually know anyone names Blaise, which is why it's in our top five for a boy. But, my uncle's father was named Blaise Victor - which is where I got the name.
To be more specific about Blayz, I really think it still holds the sound of the original well. However, I keep seeing it and thinking "Boyz II Men" myself. ;)

Blayz is atrocious, if you're going to not spell it like the Saint the spell it like the word. Blaise is cool though, I kind of like the "pun" that you can get from the sound.

Blayz is a bizarre spelling. It looks like the name of an energy drink.
I went to high school with a Blaze. He ended up spending time in jail on marijuana charges which kind of amuses me.
I like the sound of Blaise when I think of it distinct from the word 'blaze'. However I think it sounds sort of cheap in English due to the homonym. Like someone's trying hard to be cool.

Yes, I know a Blaise. He has a sister named Freesia, I think. Can't remember the name of the other girl.
