The "Newfangled American list" is a list found on BTN's theme page now. By the list's standards, Tristan is newfangled-- it doesn't appear in the top 1000 before 1970 but ranked over 150 later than 2000. Summer also ranks that way.

Ah, I didn't bother to read the conditions for "newfangled". The word means something totally different to me, but the details you listed make sense for the name.
