Would you name a kid after
A month, of season they weren't born in. Or would that just look silly.

I'd use it if I liked it regardless. It may look a bit cheesy though, if they were actually born in the season or month they share their name with.
If there was a story behind it, I don't think it would look dumb. Like, if you came from a place that is known for its cold winters and moved somewhere where it never got cold, I could say I named a kid Winter to remind me of my home, even if they were born in the summer. Or Summer/Spring could be indicative of hope, warmth, etc.
I mean I guess it might LOOK silly if you're making a snap judgement but to me it would just merit further questions.

I don't think it matters very much, what season or month they were born in. There are so many reasons why someone could chose to use a name like Autumn, Winter, August, Sunday...
I don't think it matters because the reasoning behind the name might go far beyond what season they were born in.
Sometimes seasonal names are honoring. I would use Noel or Noelle because it honors, not because of the Christmas connection.
I would use July because my husband is named Julius (yes, he was born in July).
I think it makes much MORE sense to use a season name for a child born in that season, but it is not an imperative. Sometimes a Summer born in Winter is refreshing and a Snow born in July is unique.

I had to really think about this because I have not thought about it before.
I think yes. I feel less strongly about seasons, but I like Summer, Autumn and Winter all as names. For months I only like January and August but to me it feels cheesy to name a child after a month they WERE born in. So I probably would not do that unless they were not born in that particular month.

Hard to say, since I don't find month and season names nice enough to use anyway, regardless of whether or not they linked to the birth date. The only one I might consider would be May, but since it can be a short form of Madeline, Margaret, Mary, Mabel etc I think of those long before I think of the calendar.

I love August for a boy. I also like April and Autumn for girls. But I think it looks like the parents haven't put any thought into the name if a girl born in April is named April etc. "What will we name her, darling?" "I dunno... What month is it?" I'd be disappointed if I met an August and then found out he was born in August, it just ruins the spell for me.

I *might* because I don't think it's ridiculous, but I probably wouldn't just because I like other names better.
No. I think month names in general are sort of cheesy and don't feel like real names. My friend has a daughter named April who was born in March, and it's just never felt right to me. lol
I don't think it really matters. People will probably comment on it either way.
I don't think it would be silly to name a child a month or season name that they were not born in. To me, they are names just like every other name.
I think it could work, if the time of year isn't the names only meaning/connotation. Like August-- it's the name of a month, but it's also the anglicized form of Augustus, which makes it kind of Roman-ish, to me. Autumn, Summer, and Winter work too, because of the connotations the seasons bring. They could be special times to the parents or something. And not all girls named Tiffany were born on the Epiphany! The same goes for Noelle/Noel, Pascale/Pascal, and Natalie.
I like Juni (Swedish for June) for a girl, but I doubt I'd use it for someone born in that month, it seems a bit cheesy. I also have a soft spot for October and November as middle names for girls.
Yes definitely. Mae, June, April, Summer, and Winter - I'd use those whenever. Spring is actually the only one I'd make sure to use in Spring, because it's so on the nose.
My friend April gets annoyed when people say "but you were born in October!" Everyone's so clever!
