Literary major baby names
What would you name a child based on an author's name?
Is Vonnegut too out there? What would you name a son based on writing genre (musically inclined/related included)?
Would Novel, Lyric, Chord, or Ballad work as first names? What names (and words that could be used as names) come to mind that give the idea of renewal, life, hope, and the like? Ditto happy surprises, especially ones that are a surprise because they weren't thought possible.

Well, if I had a boy, I'd probably name him either Ernest or Upton. Not sure about what author's name I'd use on a girl. I think Vonnegut is far too out there. Why don't you use his first name, Kurt?I don't think I'd name my child something that's based on writing genre. I don't think any of those words would make decent names.

Vonnegut: pretentious
Novel, Ballad: flaky. Novel is much more so than Ballad, but both are flaky.
Lyric, Chord: something in-between flaky and pretentious, which for some people would pass as artsy and poetic. There are so many names that have those meanings ... ! You could do a meanings search.
The ones that come to my mind as suggesting those ideas, are mostly feminine -
renewal: Chloe
life: Vivian (I think of it as unisex), Vitaliy
hope: Nadia, Esperanza
miracle: Mirabel

Ahah, well... I've already decided that if I have a boy someday, I'll name him Dashiell. I just love Hammett's works so much, and they get me through my sad and lonely moments, and he had a really tough life, so I guess the least I can do for the guy is name my kid after him. Vonnegut is a little out there, but I think Kurt is nice! Also on my list are Upton and Flannery...I used to want to have kids named Story and Chapter (I was eleven okay...) I really like word names, even though I know they're cheesy, so I think any of those could work?Zoe, Eve, and Vivian all mean life. Pascal and Pascale come from Easter, which is a holiday about rebirth. And Mira-- like, from Miracle.

No to Vonnegut. If you want to honor the author, use Kurt.I really not one for naming your child after your occupation or your loves. I know an author who named her daughter Evidence and I found it just terrible.A child might not share the interests of the Parents. That's what I was thinking of giving our son the middle name of Gawin after our love of Arthurian legends, but as a middle name.I think Liv Melusine has the right vibe for you. Live means life and Melsine is musical

I think naming a child after an author is fine, however Vonnegut is way too much, very ugly!
I've always considered using Enid after Enid BlytonI have a pet hate of 'music' names as first names.. usually it's by parents who have no idea about the terms they use for their kids names! I think Novel, Lyric, Chord and Ballad are hideously tacky.
