JeanI almost chose Joan.

Joannaalthough Jane would probably win if Joanna wasn't my mother's name.

Tough. It's a tie between Joanna and Janet. If forced to chose I'd go with Joanna.

JoannaThough I've always found the spelling Johanna to be more attractive, even if that H (in English) doesn't do much of anything. :-)

-Janet--as above-

JaneIt's so light, open and airy. I'm trying to get more into Jean because it's a name my bf really likes, it's a family name for me, and it would be a refreshing choice these days.... but it has such a harsh sound :(

Jane x1000I think Jane is the most timeless out of the list. Janet, Jean and Joan are dated. Joanne is boring. Joanna is slightly less boring but still boring. Janna sounds like modern rubbish. :p

I love Joan nn Joanie!Joan. It is the most surprising on a young person, and I believe it is ripe for the reviving. It's so streamline and buttoned up. I also think the vowel sound is lovely. I'd readily use the adorable nickname Joanie as well, adding a buttoned-down alternative.I also love Jean, Jane, Joanna, and Janet, but they seem to miss a special energy that Joan exudes for me.

JoannaI like the Jo sound, and I tend to prefer names that are 3-4 syllables.

Can I do Johanna? Or Joni?Otherwise I'll go with Jane. It's got a clean sound to me and is spunky in this day and age. I have two good friends my age (although one spells it Jayne) and they are great people so it is a good association.

Jane - Simple, classic, timeless, feminine.:)

JoanUsed to be my favorite girl name of all. I wouldn't use it as a first name, because of John, but I might use it as a middle for the saint.

Janet for sure. mI don't like Joan, Joanne and Joanna at all. They sound really heavy and dense.I love Jane but not quite as much as Janet. It isn't on there but guess what I love Janice (or Janis) too.Jean and Janna are just OK.

Yeah, I didn't put my own name because I might end up butt-hurt, lol. But thanks!

Hey, I like your name!
vote up1
Me too, actually :) I like the sound of it a lot. It is hard to separate it from the datedness but Janet is equally as dated to me and I prefer it to Janet.

JoannaI also like Jean, Jane, Joanne. And I like Jana (JAY-na) / Jaina, and Janel (not Janelle), and Jeanne (jeen or zhahn), and Jeannine / Janine.Janet was the name of a very abrasive woman who was my boss's wife for a number of years, and the name is ruined for me right now because of her. I don't dislike it as much as Joan though (don't like the sound of Joan).
