Alison Renee
And HIS name is... Tah dah... Alison Renee. OMG!My friend had her baby whom she has claimed forever was going to be a girl. But he wasn't. So she gave him both fn and mn that are marginally (in my opinion) unisex. I think together he is going to be forever mistaken to be a girl. I feel bad for him. Am I out to lunch or what?

Way too feminine for a boy. Renée is the feminine spelling, the masculine is René. And Alison is mostly a feminine name nowadays.
It's really a desperate "oh no, I wanted a girl!" Poor kid.
(I don't mean that a boy needs an über-masculine name, but I feel sorry for him because his names make it sound that he's unwanted.)

You're the same one who liked Kimberly for a boy.
Neither Alison nor Renee is marginally unisex. But you're making stuff up so it doesn't matter.

Renee is the female form. That's my name and I can't imagine a boy named Renee. Rene, yes. But Renee, no. And yes, I do feel that he will always be mistaken for a girl. You're not out of touch.

Uh... She could have at least went with Rene. At least. Alison is just too widely used on girls...why do this?

The only way it could work would be if Alison was Allison with two Ls - in other words, the surname. And if Renee was Rene. I know a Rene - he's the second son, and I find it a bit unfortunate for that reason, but as a name it's fine.I do hope your friend doesn't think that any name that ends in -son is therefore male.

Now that's just unfortunate. Really unfortunate. On a girl, it would be very nice spelled this way.

Is this real? Yeah that's pretty bad.Alison may have -son but it's not the same origin as "male child"... it's just a diminutive of Alice. And Renee is specifically the feminine spelling of Rene. Unless this kid's gender is female, this isn't going to be fun for him.

I really don't find either even marginally unisex. Not in the US, at least. That's so awful for a boy. So so awful.
