Akseli EdvardMy favourite names are (and have been for some time) Akseli for a boy and Aina for a girl. I love the names but I don't like that they both have to start with A - they feel so matchy, even though that's completely unintentional!

Very good combo.

Prosper Charles Makisig... editedWere I allowed to make the final choice, I would go with Prosper Charles Malakas.
EDIT:
I switch this to Prosper Charles Makisig. Aine has schooled me on the Greek slang for Malakas. So sad. This is Minette all over again!!

Just randomly but are you aware of what 'malakas' means in Greek? I kind of don't know if this is a joke name combo because of that because combined with Prosper and Charles and then Malakas it could mean a kind of funny/crass phrase.I only ask about the meaning because it is the one kind of swear/slang word a lot of people pick up from visiting Greece and it is one I use a lot myself as I have Greek family. Basically, it maybe isn't a good idea if you ever plan on having a son who might ever travel anywhere and have his full name read aloud by anyone with any knowledge of Greek. I know you're not planning on having more kids but still :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malakas
vote up1
Oh no!I did not know what Malakas meant in Greek until I just looked it up!! Oh no.
I had no idea. In Tagalog, it means "strong" but is a characteristics of a person (like a personal adjective). He is a character in the Filipino myth of creation, which borrows heavily from the Judeo-Christian account. Malakas and Maganda would be like Adam and Eve. My husband had his heart set on this name for a boy!!!
Now I will have to change it to Makisig!

Hahahaha I assumed it was a Tagalog name but I thought I should tell you in the off chance you ever have another because it's pretty commonly known by people who aren't Greek, don't speak Greek, but have had any extended contact with people of a Greek background. I also never quite know if people are kidding on these boards sometimes because some posters put up funny names and I didn't know if it was that or serious ^_^Poor Julius!

I have a Greek aunt, so I am sure it would come up! Told my husband last night. He was mortified. Is ok though bc I always wanted a son named Olin, but it's pretty much the same as Malakas in Visayan.

True. My only words in modern Greek -please, thank you and .....malakas :)Prosper is a great name though

Alexander JohnYes, middle name update for those following the saga: John popped into my head the other day and it seems the most likely candidate to end up on his birth certificate so far. It's my husband's grandpa's name, so that appeases him, the meaning is significant for this kid, and it just seems to fit and feel good.I'm almost certain Garth is completely out as while I'd be ok with it, it doesn't seem right, and husband still can't make himself get on board. Gabriel is still floating around and I'm trying to revisit Francis. Both are alternative ways of honoring my dad in lieu of Garth directly.
vote up1
I prefer Alexander Gabriel and Alexander Francis but Alexander John is about as sturdy of a name you can possibly get. It flows well too :)
vote up1
I really like both Alexander Gabriel and Alexander Francis. They both make the steady classic Alexander just a little bit more interesting.

Thor MagnusI think I would enjoy my mom by naming him Thor Magnus. My grandfathers name was Tor, and he passed away the year before I was born, only 38 years old. My mother thought I was being a boy, and was planning to name me Tor Markus, but I came out as a girl. And when she finally got a boy, the name Tor wasn't longer an option. So, I think it would give her much joy if I called my boy Thor, after her father. But to be honest, Thor isn't exatly my favoritename, therefore I have Magnus as middlename, so I can use Magnus when I speak to him. I could have used Thor as middlename; Magnus Thor, but I don't think that fit as good as Thor Magnus. The best part is that it works international.
