Re: Shelby
Well, from experience, I can tell you that I and every other Shelby I have ever known (which is many, it got somewhat popular around my area the year after I was born, go figure) has not been a camo-wearing hillbilly. I am twenty-something and most of the Shelby's I know are as well. I mean to summarize it the Shelby's I have known have been emo, band geeks, sporty, there is no particular set that the name regards. My mom liked the name for some time before I was born, it was not inspired by Steel Magnolias nor did my father like the cars, but trust me people ask. A lot of people tell me they really like my name.Personally, I don't dislike my name, I don't love it but I am Shelby. I actually have been writing and I think if I were ever going to try and publish anything I would use a different name for the simple fact that I think a name can "shout" amazing things and I don't like my surnames association with my father. My biggest issue with my name is there are very few that I have ever met that I haven't disliked as a person... that's my issue. I don't believe that I would be tempted at all to pass my name down. If I ever use an honoring name that I have, it would be my middle name Rebecca.
