Re: A few girl-y names
in reply to a message by Joiya
Molly / Mollie - bleak, fat and flabby
Polly - cheerful and charming!
Holly / Hollie - lovely tree, not to my taste as a name
Milly / Millie - I like it a little but not enough
Sally / Sallie - was at school with both versions; prefer Sally and would use it
Poppy / Poppie - friend's grandbaby. Sounds unattractive
Becky / Beckie - lovely as a nn for Rebecca; only with a y
Dolly / Dollie - dreadful
Dotty / Dottie - worse
Netty / Nettie - unattractive and faintly fishy
Nelly / Nellie - OKish; prefer Nell
Penny / Pennie - Penny with a y only; I'd use it willingly
Elly / Ellie - very bland
Tilly / Tillie - lovely as a nn for Matilda, but only with a y
