Re: A few girl-y names
in reply to a message by Joiya
Molly - it's cute, but I have a hard time picturing this name on a grown woman
Polly - I can't take this name seriously on a human. It just makes me think of parrots and Polly Pocket
Holly - It's okay, but not really my style. I'd say it's the only name on the list that can really work as a full name, though
Milly / Millie - cute. I don't mind it as a full name
Sally - Bland
Poppy - Cute, but like Molly, hard to imagine on someone older than a child
Becky - Hate this name. Much prefer Rebecca, with no nicknames
Dolly - too cutesey to use on a real person
Dotty / Dottie - cute only as a nn for Dorothy, etc.
Netty / Nettie - don't like it
Nelly / Nellie - cute only as a nn for Eleanor, Helen, etc.
Penny - as a nn for Penelope it's okay
Ellie - A friend of mine just named her daughter this. It's so blah and not a name by itself. I do like it as a nn for any names beginning with El (Eloise, Eleanor, etc.)
Tilly / Tillie - very cutesey. Only like it as a nn for Matilda

Funny you say that you can't imagine Molly on a grown adult because after reading/obsessing over Harry Potter I have trouble seeing it on a young child, its cool how one name can be completely different for different people :)
