Re: Lucille or Lucy?
The only reason I didn't name my first daughter Lucy was that there has never been a newborn human female who looked less like a Lucy. So I had to go through a name book from scratch, stopping at every name I liked and trying it on her in case it worked.I would never have touched Lucille. Weary and dreary and down-market and faux-French and lots of other bad things. I've met a couple of Lucille people and the've all been vapid and vacuous. If Lucy didn't work for some strange reason of surname sound or whatever, I'd use Lucilla rather than Lucille - and also rather than Lucia with its multiple pronunciations. And when I was a schoolgirl I named a cat Lucinda (she 'had to have' a L name) but called her Cindy, so that eliminates it for a person.
