Irish Baby Names That We're Totally Going to Steal
Just a little name article I stumbled upon. Here's what they have to say...http://www.purewow.com/entertainment/Irish-Baby-Names/slide1What do you think? "And by the way, dearie, your punctuation sucks canal water!"

I don't think of Nora as been only Irish. It's a nice nickname.I don't care for Teagan on a girl. It's a bit 80s to me. I do like Teague on a boy though. The only one that appealed from that list is Ennis (guilty pleasure).Caoimhe and Niamh are my favourite Irish names for girls.

My friend just had a baby Aoife (in America). I do like Saoirse (not sure if it was on the list; I don't have much patience at all for slideshows).

Well, they're all okay. Only Aoife would have some pronunciations issues. I was expecting to see every single one have pronunciation issues, and was expecting to say "This is impractical", but not so. But we're going to steal Liam? No, that ship sailed a long time ago.Any one of them, for anyone who wants to "honor their Irish heritage", would be far more authentic than Shannon. I once knew a woman who said she'd named her daughter Shannon for that reason. Ugh.

I'm not a huge fan of Irish names, with a few exceptions. I like Art, but as a nn for Arthur. Why is Nora considered an Irish name? It's not a Celtic name or anything.

I like:Aoife
Colm
Nora
Fionnoula - but not this spelling

Eh, the usual silliness.Aoife & Colm - fine
Eamon, Sinéad, Nora - fine, if a bit dated
Fionnoula - unusual spelling, but does happen, and at least it is an Irish name used in Ireland! Well done. (Why not Fionnuala though?)
Liam - yes, people in the US should totes 'steal' this, because they've never heard of it and it's so yooneek (#2 name) Also it is not 'the Irish form of William', yawn
Nessa - eh, it could technically be anglicised Irish but I've never met one who wasn't really a Vanessa
Catriona - Scottish
Art - uh?
Quinn - "it's one of the most common names in Northern Ireland" Sure. As a last name.
Teagan - this is so American it's wearing stars and stripes right down to its underwear
Dillon, Ennis, Clooney - and so are these, as first names.
