I like Victor, but I'm not keen on the nickname Vic.

Victor is nice but Vic is not good. Victor is best when not shortened because it is only two sylables.

It's got a definite aura of seedy old bloke who thinks he's a bit of a rogue.

Not sure why, but I associate Victor with Vincent; they both have a slightly dated Mid-Atlantic vibe to me, or they sound like mobsters...It's an okay name, though. I prefer it spelled with a K (Viktor), because that way it looks more like a name, less like a word.

I hate it. Victor is a real old geezer's name and there's just something a bit shady about Vic

Hi !!!I love Victor!

It is short and beautiful...why it needs a NN?!Byeeeeeeeeeeeee

I don't know that it needs one, but my husband's closest friend from high school, and best man at our wedding, was named Victor but he was always called Vic. I wouldn't use the name Victor at all myself, nickname or no, but I think Vic is pretty common as a nickname.

I have always liked this name. Vetoed immediately off our list by my husband who thinks it is full of pressure. He thinks it's perfect for "Not a victor, hunh Victor?" type teasing.I fully disagree, but whatever. Vic is also my preferred nickname.Yeah, it has a slight mobster quality to it, but that just makes it cooler. Besides, Vince (Vincent/Vincenzo) is far more mob-y and not as cool as Victor/Vic.

Victor is okay, but only just okay; there's a vaguely creepy vibe to it. Vic sounds downright scary, like a mobster with some descriptor after his name, like Vic the Slasher or Vic the Strangler.
