Cleo
What do you think of Cleo? I like Chloe a lot but it feels really dated to me and Cleo is fresh and energetic and I think I like the sound even more than that of Chloe. Opinions?

I like it - it's short & cheerful. It's also on the rise in the UK and I can easily see it becoming popular, maybe with other people who like Chloe but think it's overused.

I love Cleo!! I think it's different and fun. I wish Leo for a boy wasn't so high on my list so that I could consider Cleo =)

I love Cleo, so pretty. Clio would obviate the inevitable 'is it short for Cleopatra' comments (or at least from people who'd seen it written down). Although, I actually like Cleopatra as well...eta I know of a little Cleo. Her father is a friend from university. I thought it was a great choice!

I really like Cleo; it's unexpected but everyone knows how to say it and spell it (maybe you wouldn't get that so much with the variant Clio, though).I prefer it a million times over to Chloe; which I really dislike due to how popular it was when I was growing up (had about five in my class I think and they were all vile!)

I think the opposite! Cleo is back-to-the-1940s (I know a Cleone who must be about 70), and Chloe is timeless. What puts me off Chloe is not the datedness but the recent popularity! But I'd still use it happily as a mn.

I've actually really like Cleo for a long time, but have never really heard positive feedback about it. I personally would choose it over Chloe any day.

I love Cleo, though I prefer Clio. Both are certainly fresher than Chloe.

I LOVE the name Cleo. It's beautiful, under rated and will suit all ages well imo. A really gorgeous name.

I agree (names that start with Cl- usually sound energetic to me, and I think girls' names that end with an O sound are very fresh/current). I used to primarily associate it with Miss Cleo, the infomercial psychic from the 90s, which did give it a kitschy vibe imo, but I've warmed up to it a lot recently, because I like the history of Clio (muse of history and epic poetry) as well as the sound. My favorite combo for it so far is Clio Bernadette.

I've fallen in love with the name Cleo recently. I used to see it as just a nickname for Cleopatra which seemed kitschy. But then I met one who spelled it Clio. Doing a little more digging, I found that Cleo / Clio is a name in its own right. Freed from the campy Cleopatra, my inner nerd was free to indulge in quirky, wonderful Cleo / Clio. All of that said, I'm a regular at another site and I'm seeing Cleo more and more. I think it's poised for a big jump in popularity, if that matters to you. It also works as a fun nickname for Clementine / Clementina.Stock combo: Clio Zinovia. I haven't found one I love with Cleo yet. Ideas? :0)

I think this name is cute, as I knew a little girl called Cleo, but I couldn't really imagine it on an adult.

I'm actually on the contrary there; I like Chloe wayyyyyyy better, I don't think it's dated at all! Cleo seems like a cat name to me...idk why. Probably because I used to have a family friend with a cat named Cleo. lol
