How popular is too popular?
I've been considering going by Florence for a while now due to pronunciation issues with my birth name. However, I live in the UK. Currently, Florence is very much on the rise, sitting at n. 23 on the UK top 100 for 2015.Thankfully, I don't personally know any Florences, and the name was out of the top 100 when I was born. So, I was wondering, would it strange for me to adopt a name that came into popularity two decades after I was born? How likely am I to meet someone in the top 30? Do you think Florence will become even more popular in the coming years?

I know two adult Florences and I'm also in the UK. I don't think it would be weird at all.

Usually I'm really against popularity, but in your case I think it's fine. Florence is popular, and it's trending upwards, so I think it might rise at least a little. I wouldn't use it for a child because of that, but for an adult it's not like you'll be bumping into loads of Florence's your age as a baby Florence might. Especially if you don't know any, I think it's fine. It's a name that's been around for a while too, so it won't sound juvenile or strange on an adult.

If you're going to be older than most other Florence people, they'll all assume you're younger. Could be nice!

I don't get people worrying about their name getting popular now. You're not going to be in typical popular name situations like having 3 people with your name in your class, etc. So I think it's fine, it can actually be refreshing to have a name that's in advance with the fashion.

At least to me popularity is not important - if you like it and are comfortable with it, I thin youk should use it.

I don't foresee it becoming crazy popular. I would use it if you like it.
