Ooh I love Thora! Thora Melisande is my favorite here! Thora Gwendolen, Thora Emmeline, & Thora Josephine (usually not crazy about Josephine but I like it here) are runners up.

I've also become more fond of Thora, though it isn't (and probably won't be) my favorite feminine Scandinavian name. I also quite like Thyra and only its Scandinavian/Finnish pronunciation. It reminds me of the painting "Thyra Elisabeth" by Finnish painter Ellen Thesleff (see below), depicting the painter's younger sister. Because of this painting Thyra seems very ethereal to me, and I get the same feeling with Thora. Also, Elisabeth makes a wonderful pair with both Thora and Thyra.

I really like Thora. The first thing I think of is Thora Birch, but that's not a deal breaker at all. I really like the combo Thora Antoinette--it's just perfect.

I love Thora. I've been trying for years to get hubby on board. Pregnant with our last and he still says no!
