Hi !!!Today I met a little girl named Adelaide (a-de-LIE-de) who was around six.WDY generally think of this name?
And is it nice in your opinion on a child? In my mind Adelaide is a very dated and severe-vibe name but here in Italy it is increasing in popularity.
Infact in was #170 in 2015 with 167 babies with this name.

I think it is a beautiful name and the Italian pronunciation is lovely.

It has a dated and severe vibe to me too. I also only associate it with the city. That pronunciation sounds awkward to my ears.

I adore Adelaide, but pronounced the English way. I don't think it sounds very dated. I think of Adelaide Kane. (-:Edit: Unpopular opinion, I think Addie is cute as well.

A few years ago everyone in BTN was swooning over Adel aide. I got so bored of it even though I never met one. It is a character in the musical 'Guys and Dolls' that I'm familiar with though.I think it:something clunky and awkward. And the nn Addy is horrible.

You are right.Addy is awful.
But Adelaide 'Lady' would be awesome!

Adelaide is a major city here in Australia and is pronounced add-el-ayde.I actually like it as a name but probably wouldn't use it here.
