Re: Babynames of week 25/2017, 26/2017 & 27/2017
in reply to a message by Chaka
Wow. This list is really something I didn't expect (for Germany). Skyler seems so out of place in Deutschland (it seems like a stereotypical Utah name to me). Khaleesi is awful (I'm surprised the German naming authorities didn't shoot that one down). My favorites are the traditional German names like Franz Johann Alexander and Karlotta Margarethe, and Hilda Magdalena. They have meaning and are pronounceable in the German language, unlike most of the American kre8tyve style names on this list. Seriously, Germans should NOT be taking a page from the Utah Book of Baby Naming!

Thank you for your answer :)
I hear you.
But it is actually not that bad.
This website only uses a fraction of the names for babies actual being born and most of the name galleries / hospitals show the names before they are being registered – this means it could be that some names will not be accepted and could change later.
It also depends from which area the names were picked… Some areas are less traditional…
Germany has also many different cultures living there. And we do have a lot of military bases around – this could explain the American names…
But there are some Germans that like exotic names – like everywhere else too – And some just love the USA so they’ll pick those names :)
