My auntie recently gave birth to an Evgenia, and calls her Jenny as an English form of the name. I love Evgenia, but I feel as if Jenny is such an injustice to the name. WDYT?

Jenny makes sense as an English NN to Evgenia, even when pronounced correctly (with a hard G). The biggest problem she’ll run into is being confused for a Jennifer.

I'd never heard Evgenia before, but I really like it! I think Jenny makes sense if I'm pronouncing Evgenia correctly. I love Jenny but hate Jennifer, so to me this seems like a nice way to get there.

Genie would have been cute. Evgenia is a pretty name, but I like Eugenie more.

More then weird The only Evgenia I've known went by Genia (GENya); she was Russian. In English, there must be many more obvious ways to have a daughter known as Jenny! I don't see it as an injustice to the name, but certainly it's an uncomfortable stretch.

In an English-speaking country (especially the USA), Genya or Zhenya may be mispronounced? That’s all I can think of. Plus Jenny is cute.

I'm from South Carolina and I don't think they're too hard to pronounce. They're just unfamiliar to most people...but if she's going to use an unusual name like Evgenia, I don't see the problem with an unusual nickname. You've gotta admit Genya / Zhenya are both far cooler than Jenny. Jenny makes me wanna fall asleep.

Evgenia as Modern Greek?
Well...I prefer Eugenia (e-oo-JE-nya) as in Italian or Eugénie as in French.

Anyway this name is not my cup of tea.

Jenny is horrible as NN.
It is better Genia but I would go with the whole name.
