I've always loved the name Matilda because of the book, so definitely that!As for my least favourite, Judy or Carmen? Judy seems like a soccer mom's name and I just don't like the sound of Carmen

Aurora is my favorite because it's the prettiest IMO and I think Gemma is my least favorite because it's a bit tacky and dated.

Thank you all so much :D

I'd choose either Gemma or Matilda, but I'd be more likely to go with Gemma, because it's not so common these days.Thais is my least fave, just does nothing for me. Judy is a close second, never liked that name.

Eleanora. I’d prefer just Eleanor but Eleanora’s not bad at all. I like the nn Nora. I also like the name Amina, but I’m not Arabic and would feel odd using it. Matilda’s alright and would probably be my second choice but something about it just feels so drab to me and I’m not sure how I feel about nn Mattie.Judy still sounds too old lady-ish to me, especially because it’s the name of my great grandma (she’s almost 80). I’d rather use it as a mn and as Judith, not Judy.Despite being the name of a Disney princess I’ve never really liked the way Aurora sounds. The r’s just sound so strange to me. Also it’s the name of a town that I lived near.Gemma is too trendy and nms.Thaïs is too out there and also nms.Carmen is alright but again nms.

Carmen. I like Thaïs very much too, but can actually imagine using Carmen.
Gemma is my least favourite. Too blingy and 90s for me.

Aurora for a lot of reasons- it’s beautiful meaning, I love Disney and princesses and Rory is a cute nickname.

GemmaGemma isn't one of my favorites, but it does seem sweet to me - and more substantial than Emma.If I were to have a least favorite from this group, it would be Judy, which I don't think it attractive at all.

Eleonora! So beautiful, and so much nicer than Eleanora. I also love Amina. My least favorite is Judy, hands down. It's nickname-only material.

Either Aurora or MatildaMatilda would be my safe bet, I've loved it since I was a little girl but it's becoming so popular in England. I would shorten it to "Mattie" (I dislike Tillie A LOT).Aurora is a little more unexpected whilst still being easily recognisable. I didn't like "Rory" but it's sort of growing on me and I imagine I would probably end it shortening Aurora to Rory or Aurie.I'm not a fan of any of the others tbf.

Carmen, because I actually like it a lot.

It would be a toss-up for me between Gemma and Eleanora. I'm not wild about how similar Gemma is to Emma and I prefer the more streamlined Eleanor. As I type this, I think I'm leaning more towards Eleanora just because I like the potential nns (Ella, Ellie).I'd say my least fave is Judy, hands down.I never liked Aurora much because it was somewhat difficult to say. My dd, who is a college freshman, has become good friends with a girl named Aurora. She has a gorgeous, flowing Italian surname and the entire effect is showstopping. As a result, I'm somewhat smitten with Aurora even though I still have some issues with it.

Thaïs. I love it!

Thaïs is my favorite. I also love Carmen.
Judy is a bit old-fashioned.
Aurora has the most wonderful meaning, but I don't like the sound of it.
Gemma is cute.
Amina is OK.
Matilda is nice, but it's a cousin's name, so I wouldn't use it.
Eleonora is OK, but I prefer Ellinor.

EleonoraIt's been on my list for a long time and would have been my son's name had he been a girl. I think it's just lovely and I love all the nickname options.

Gemma. Honestly, it's mostly due to nostalgia - I was a big fan of Libba Bray's Gemma Doyle trilogy when I was younger. I need to reread those sometime. My least favorite is probably Judy. I don't dislike it - it's just not a favorite.

Thais. It's pretty and mysterious, and it makes me think of a temple.
vote up1
Amina is my favorite; I love it for the meaning (truthful). My least favorite — Aurora. It’s a really beautiful name but is becoming really trendy; it’s also hard for me to pronounce (too many Rs).
vote up1
I like Amina the best. It's nicely balanced, having an "a" at each end. It has a nice sound overall. Yep, Amina.Judy is my least favorite even though one of my best friends has this name. I just don't care for the sound of Judy.

EleonoraI love names with el- sounds, especially at the beginning.
I love names with long o's, especially or- sounds.
I love names that are more old-fashioned or classic, but also lesser known or kinda different.
Eleonora ticks all my boxes.Least favorite is Judy. I very much dislike nicknames as full names.

Matilda for sure. It's one of my top favourites and has been for years. It's also a family name which is a bonus for me. I've never cared much for Gemma, it always strikes me as a bit gaudy.
vote up1
If I had to Gemma. It's okay, nothing objectionable. I can find something objectionable in all of the others.Least favorite, Judy. I hate that "jood" sound.
vote up1
AuroraIt sounds good (pretty, magical, and a little mysterious) and has the best imagery. Runner-ups:
Eleonora -- the only reason I didn't pick this is because I think Eleanora is better.
Thaïs -- I like the sort of witchy and ancient vibe but it's less versatile than some of the others. The others:
Judy sounds dated (or at the very least, "retro" which isn't really my thing).
Gemma sounds a little frumpy for some reason?
Amina is good but it sounds too much like amino,
Matilda sounds old. Kind of charming but also kind of frumpy.
Carmen is just nms. I like it in some cases but not in general.

Eleonora. Amina and Matilda are best.Judy and Carmen are the worst.

Ha, Judy and Carmen are my favourites. mostly because I've known, and liked, a Judy(Judith) and a Carmen. Luckily, we are not having a child together! :-)

Haha. I'll steer clear of you then! One of the reasons that I love my husband is that he has good taste in names :DJudy sounds like a frumpy, fat old lady.. Carmen sounds like a cougar..

Eleonora.Eleonora because it sounds the fanciest.Least favorite would have to be Thaïs.

Favorite: Matilda followed by Gemma.Least favorite: Aurora followed by Thais.

From these...Carmen. Maybe Aurora but I used to dislike it and still not too sure.I really dislike Gemma and Judy
vote up1
My favourite is Aurora. My least favourite is Gemma. Gemma just sounds like a passing fad and seems like it would be extremely dated. I love Aurora for the nn Rorie. It also has a beautiful meaning.

Amina would be my favourite. I actually have a friend with this name (though hers is spelled as "Aminah", which is the more prevalent form here in Southeast Asia), so I'm quite fond of it. Simple, yet elegant and pretty. Aurora and Gemma are gorgeous as well, though I would never personally use them. Thaïs is an interesting one.I'm not very fond of Eleonora mainly due to the "eo" vowel combination, which I personally don't like. It's just not my cup of tea, either, I suppose. I also dislike Matilda, mostly because I naturally associate it as being old-fashioned and fit for an old woman.I'm rather neutral on Judy and Carmen.

I'd choose Aurora or Thais. I like both of their sounds, and Aurora makes me think of aurora borealis, the Northern Lights. I also like the meaning, Dawn. I like Thais because I like names that I am not familiar with. It also gives me a friendly feeling. Out of the two, I'd pick Thais.
Matilda and Judy are okay, but I don't like the ideas I associate with them. I don't like Ms or Ns in the middle of a name, so that gets rid of everything else.

Hi Perrine !!!I rate & comment them as I always do! XDJudy 2/10 it is only a NN imo..and quite boring/dated imo. I much prefer Yehudit or Giuditta at least.Aurora 10/10 or 6/10 Aurora is one of the arly names I've recorded since I was a child. I love the meaning of light (both the sunrise and the northern lights). I love how it sounds regal. The word "aurora" is quite literarian and poetical in Italian while "alba" isn't so much. The pity is that Aurora is SO popular that sometimes it become annoying and very tacky in my mind. It is a very pity. I can't decide if I would use anyway.Gemma 3/10 I dislike this name since I was a child. Sbobbish, dated. The name for an unpleasant aunt.Amina 8/10 I like it a lot! I prefer Amin for a boy but Amina is sweet, simple and clear anyway. Matilda 3/10 Same feeling of Gemma.Thais 6/10 old-favourite of mine. Nice sound but as I said I prefer Thalassa or Larissa.Eleonora 9/10 it is a great name. Elegant, ageless, evergreen, regal, very sweet and with a bright vibe.Carmen 8/10 It would be 10/10 for meaning and theatre character. Unfortunately I met few Carmen all unpleasant.Best name: Aurora and Eleonora
Worst: Judy, Gemma and MatildaWhat is your comment of the same list of names?
I can imagine that you like them but I would like to know a comment about them...

Hi :) Thanks so much for your comments :)Mine would be:Matilda 9/10 love it and am thinking about using it but sometimes it still seems a bit heavy and old to me and I dislike Tilly
Eleonora 8/10 really like it but not sure if I would use it. Nora is getting kind of common here and I am sure Eleonora would get shortened somehow
Carmen 6/10 it is growing on me and I like it for its unusual sound. It doesn't end in an A like most girls names here. It's a bit more unique
Thaïs 9/10 I love it but only spelled with the trema and sometimes I worry that it might be too complicated or that people pronounce it with just one syllable. I love the meaning.
Amina 6/10 I think it's really cute with a nice meaning. I wouldn't use it myself because I prefer the similar Amira.
Gemma 6/10 really growing on me. I like the gemstone association. It bothers me a bit that it is seen as rather dated in some parts of the world
Judy 5/10 it is growing on me but I wouldn't use it as a full name and I don't really care for Judith very much.
Aurora 8/10 I love it but I dislike the way it sounds when pronounced in English. I think it's cute with a great meaning and I like Aury as a nickname.

Matilda Carmen, because...Aurora and Thais look nice, but I don't like saying them. I guess Thais is my least favorite, because I like "dawn" imagery.I'd consider Judith or Jude, but Judy is too NNy for me.Gemma and Eleonora are ok but nms.I like Amina but don't really feel a connection to it.I like the meanings and vibes I get from Matilda and Carmen, and I'm familiar enough with both that I'd be comfortable using them regularly. If forced to choose one, I'd go with Matilda because I like the extra length.

Eleonora, probably. Although I am used to Eleanora, it is pretty. The other ones are also nice though, the only one I don't like is Aurora and that is because it doesn't sound particularly pleasant to me at all, but the goddess is a nice association. Gemma and Amina are also very pretty.
