Create a unique name
Hello everyone,I've been working on a tool to help expectant parents create unique names, www.namegrams.com. It creates new names by doing machine learning on popular names to know what letter combinations go well together. It also learns from the names you like and creates similar names. So as you use it more, the names get better and better. Let me know what you think.Example girl names:
Jacquelle
Sariana
AdeliaExample boy names:
Edwayne
Davius
Randon

I think It's an interesting idea but there are already so many baby name websites and apps out there. It would be a useful tool for writers and gamers though.

Haha, I know a Jacquelle, so I think you're on the right track. This is fun site to play with, it's cool idea and you've done some nice work on it so far. Darrence (boy) and Connifer (girl) are a hilarious sibling set. These remind me of the made up names they use sometimes in advice columns like Dear Prudence. Also love the syllable filters, although the one-syllable names are pretty hit-or-miss. I got a bunch of real words generating one-syllable, so maybe you could try blacklisting common dictionary words. In the one-syllable range, I also got a fair number of common names (e.g. Dean), even with the 'exclude popular names' filter on. The two-syllable name filter is also a bit off sometimes, especially for names with -ia or -ian (e.g. Randrian, Bianna). Hope that's helpful, if you're looking for feedback. Here were some of my favorite boy/girl name combos.Calexandrew & Everyleen
Ezequaleb & Jammyrana
Josephaniel & Maristina Brance & Kaith
Shan & Brite
Earles & Nine
Cald & MageCliden & Mela

Thanks for the comments. I agree that the list of blacklisted names should be expanded. I also agree that the syllable counting could be improved. It's hard to accurately count syllables because there's a lot of edge cases. For example, 'ie' is two syllables in Harriet but one syllable in Danielle.

I got some fun ones. Lucilian - but it was generated for a girl, and there's no way to favorite it for a boy.
And there were some droll ones, like Scarol and Brank.
Honestly the boy ones had me rolling on the floor ... Frandleroy, Wyatthew, Scotticus!
It's fun, though, and a neat idea.
I put in some of my favorites as a starter list.
The ones I picked as "favorites" to give it some more material, were:
Chasia
Irey
Jeanet
Katheryl
Keirdrey
Mavia
Rafinlee
Rosallia
ViviaAlfrey
Chario
Kennis
Lero
Valec
Marcell
Frey
Orvin
TimondI don't really love any of them, but I think a few would be usable.
Thanks for sharing this.
