What are your favorite “nature” names? ~*~ Happy Earth Day!
However you define nature names — obvious meaning, subtle meaning, the name of a beach you grew up visiting that you particularly love and associate with the outdoors... anything.I’m a big plant and bird and wild spaces lover; hoping against hope we move towards balanced relationship with our world, and that we have time to do so. Thank you for living on Earth with me! :) Thanks for sharing my love of names! I so appreciate having a place for this pet interest of mine.

I love Wren, even though it's stylistically very different from most of my favorite names
I like Rowan on a girl, but I love it on a boy.
I like a lot of Rose variants, though my favorites aren't all really etymologically connected to the flower - Rosalind, Rosamund, Rosemary (a nature name in its own right, though)

Gaia (Erde) - (mother earth) however we say her or pronounce her or spell her. Here is a lovely aria from Richard Strauss's Opera Daphne: Gaia's voice is the sweet & low contralto, Anna Larsson - while Daphne's voice is the lovely soprano Renee Fleming.

I really like Hazel on a boy! It's a plant, so I think it could totally fit.

Ones I'd use:
Sierra, Summer, Iris, Mavis, River, Tarn, Jasmine, Zephyr, Heather, Raven, SilvanI don't really get a strong enviro / nature vibe from those, though. Except for Sierra because it reminds me of the Sierra Nevada.
I get more of an environmentalism / nature-lover vibe from the unusual, less namey ones, like Ocean and Kestrel and Meadow and Cascadia and Sequoia.
And Gaia of course, that seems like the quintessential born-on-Earth-Day name.
