I usually don't like Alice...it's like there's a mincing (Edwardian?) quality to it that aggravates me. But I feel like Roberta balances it nicely, since Roberta, in contrast, seems forceful (maybe partly because it reminds me of 'robust') in a way that few feminine names do...Alice Dorothea would also be nice. Or I'd pick something like Alice Rowena.My gut response is that Alice pairs well with names containing 'ro'. I'd say Roberta is more of a classic than it was a fad.
