Re: -ian names
I would like being a Vespasian, but I don't think I could name a kid that (shortens to Spacy / Vespa, plus I read somewhere that vespasiano was a term for urinals).I like Vivian a lot for women; I could happily be a Vivian, and I wouldn't mind using it, although I might like Viviana slightly more. For guys, I'd prefer Vivaan.I hear "aw, look at the little bean" when I see Fabian. o_O ...the meaning's cute but too twee, maybe? I like it for other people because I like the Fay sound in names.I don't love the sound/meaning/vibe of: Adrian, Cyprian, Caspian, Hadrian. Ian's painfully dull. It's plain like John but trying not to be.Florian and Lucian seem either European or foppish. I don't dislike them, but I feel no connection to them.Julian and Sebastian seem popular lately. I don't mind them, but I don't like Jules or Seb as NNs.Finnian's okay but seems fussy. I'd rather see just Finn or Fionn.I kind of like Ninian, because I like Nin in general, but it also seems fussy.I like Dorian. He seems chill. I get a similar vibe from Marian but maybe more serious, and I'd be afraid people would mispronounce it (I only like it as MAR-yan).All of them seem masculine to me except for Vivian, although I don't think they'd be that weird used as feminine, except for Sebastian.
Others I like are Cassian, Octavian, and to a lesser degree, Elian, Damian, Cillian, Brian, Bastian, Maximilian, Charmian, and Gwenllian. There's also Junian? I don't like it very much, but I do like Junius.
