Origin of my first name--Jannie (female)
Does any one know the origin of my first name??
It is spelled Jannie and is not short for anything. It is my given name, but it is so different from all my siblings names, that I am very curious about it's origin

In Dutch, Jannie is a diminutive of Jan (John), so Jannie would translate as "Johnny". As a given name, Jannie is common in South Africa (Afrikaaner population) and may well be in the Netherlands too.As a female name, I've seen Jannie in the US as a diminutive of "Jan". My bro-in-law's sister Jan has always been called Jannie, altho it's a nickname.- Da.

You might already know, but Janie, with only one N, is an English name that's an alternate form of Jane, "God is gracious". Might be it, but hey, I'm not the answer man, so get a 2nd opinion.
