Hi Lies,

Your name is in fact Dutch and is a pet form of the Dutch name Elisabeth. Anne Frank's diary mentions her schoolfriend in Amsterdam, Lies Goosens, who was sent to the camps before Anne and her family, was later reunited with Anne there, and who somehow survived the war.

I have a cousin in France named Lies (pronounced "Leez") who is of French descent on both sides of her family. Whether her name is of French or Dutch origin, tho, I've never asked.
