Origin of Digna

I'm looking for the origin of Digna, it seems that it came from Europe and spelled differently but pronouced similiarly. The "i" is pronouced like an "e".

The Latin vocabulary word "dignus" (fem. digna) means "worth(y)" or "proper" (of things only).Andy ;—)
