Probably related to the Roman name imperial name Trajan. Emperor Trajan was resposible for barbecuing Ignatius to sainthood.
Trajan may be related to the Hellenic name Tragon, which is derived from "tragos" (goat). The word "tragegy" has a similar etymology ("tragodia" < "ode tragou" = "a goat's cry").
