My great great grandmother born Shelton Norfolk in ca 1833 was Asippah Gibson or Gipson. One of her daughters was then called Ellen Asippah and one of her granddaughters was called Valliare Asippah (she later called herself Valerie and I am named after her). I have never come across the name Asippah before and wondered if anyone has any ideas.
