I came to the site looking for the meaning of the German name Sven. I wonder if it is a form of Stephan, but I've found nothing. Could someone help me?

No, it's not related to Stephan, and it's really Scandinavian rather than German. Seems like we just did this name not long ago; I wasn't much involved. ANYBODY OUT THERE WHO REMEMBERS THE GIST OF THE ANSWER?
