Brittany
I'm interested in learning more about the name Brittany. I know it's French and I know Brittany's a region in the northwest of France. I know the French language is a descendent of Latin. So, I was wondering if anyone knows the Latin mean to the name Brittany?

I'm flying blind again on this one (ref books packed, alas), but I believe the origin of "Britain" is in the name of the Prytanni, a Celtic tribe of pre-Roman times. Therefore, the Latin "Brittania" would mean simply "land of the Prytanni".

Actually, spelt Looziana trailer-park style (Britney), it do.

If it had an extra "t", it'd be an anagram for a large building where eager, wannabe bimbettes might line up like cattle to get their breast augmentations. I can just see the televised commercials: "Get your low-cost breast augmentation at Dr. Joe-Bob's... " (No I'm not gonna say it.)-- Nanaea

I think Brittany (Bretagne in French) is derived from the same word where we get Britain (like Great Britain). In that case, Britannia is Latin for Britain.

OK thanks. How about the name Danielle, it is also French. I love the way Brittany and Danielle sound together.
