Iver, a variant of Ingvar/Igor, ranked 85 in the hitparade of names for newborns in Norway in the year 2003, up from 86 in 2002.Norway is probably *the* place in Scandinavia where "old" names are still popular.René

Hi Andy,Igor:Sweden - 711
Norway - 128
Denmark - 156
Finland - approx. 700
Iceland - 9Ingvar:Sweden - 49,680
Norway - 1,555
Denmark - 217
Finland - approx. 530
Iceland - 719Most Igors in the Nordic countries probably have got Russian parents. Usually people don't even know that Igor is a variant form of Ingvar as it sounds very foreign. In Sweden, Ingvar was very common in the 1940s and 1950s, especially as a second name. Nowadays it is an old fashioned name, which is not old enough to become popular again. Viele Grüße

Igor is very uncommon in Sweden - I don't know about the other Scandinavian countries. Ingvar was very common about 60 years ago, but is very rarely used for children.
