On the "ch" sound
Both the Greek letters X (chi)and K (kappa) are often transliterated to "ch" in English -- this is the sourse of confusion!Words written in Greek with a chi (eg. Chloe, Chara and Charis) are prounounced in Greek with an "H" (soft as in house, not "throat-clearing-harsh" as in Scottish or Hebrew): HLOE-ee, ha-RAH, HA-rees). Conversely, those written in Greek with a K (eg. Nicholas) are pronounced with a "K" sound.Sounds Greek to you?
