Trip is a surname:
English
1-A metonymic occupational name for a dancer, or a nickname for someone with an odd gait. From the Middle English trip(p)(en) meaning to step lightly, skip or hop.
2-A metonymic occupational name for a butcher or "tripe-dresser." From the Middle English, Old French trip(p)e for tripe (unknown origin). (Hanks & Hodges, p.542)
