Regarding the last name "Turner":

For many years it has been my understanding that this English surname was originally given to the old English craftsmen who were skilled woodworkers in days of yore. Using archaic wood lathes they "turned" wood to fashion and create furniture and other wooden items. Hence the name "Turner."
