Alyosha
i was recently reading a book and the name of one of the characters was Alyosha. this name was used for a boy and said the name was from the book The Brothers Karamazov. i have never read this book but i love the name and am currently expecting my second boy. if anybody knows the orgin of this name or what it means if they could let me know it would be a big help

Alyosha or Aljoscha (the German spelling) is a Russian pet form of Alexander.

Actually...it's commonly used as a pet form of Aleksei. The most popular pet form of Aleksander is Sasha.
