Well, I really don't know if this is the origin, but it has a meaning in Hebrew (in fact I believe it apears in the bible).

EL - means GOD
AZA (pronounced in Hebrew as ASA) means MADE/CREATED/DID

so the name means something like "God's creation", or "made by God", etc.

Again - I can't be sure this is the origin for the name you talk about, but it sounds very much like it, and there are many Hebrew names "like that" (ending with EL, and another Hebrew word before it).
