Quick google search told me there's a town in New Mexico calles Chaparral. With an 'a' not 'e' at the end.
I think Chaparral is also a boat building company. They've been building boats for 40 yrs, so their website tells me!
And a National Library of Medicine article called "Clinical experience with nordihydroguaiaretic acid--"chaparrel tea" in the treatment of cancer."
There's streets called Chaparrel - i think in America it said.
I just found a female cat called Chaparrel - well CH Holdermaines Chaparrel.
Sorry, I don't think my quick search was that positive.

CHAPARREL - type of plant.
Plant in Chaparrel for fire safety. - Acceptable native plant species...
Common name is Chaparrel currant. Scientific name is Ribes Malvaceum.
