re: name caroline
While you are correct that the english name Caroline is a diminutive of the name Charles meaning man, the origins of the name originally stem from french and latin meanings of beautiful woman and song of happiness. So the meanings of names are subjective as to which country or period they are drawn from

Errrr.... I don't see any 'beautiful woman' or 'song of happiness' in Caroline, either in French or Latin.

No, sorry . . .The following translations are from online French and Latin dictionaries:FRENCH:
Beautiful: esthetique, belle, beau
Woman: femme
Beautiful Woman: jolie femme
Song: chanson, chant
Happiness: felicite, bonheurLATIN:
Beautiful: bellus, decorus, formosus, pulcher
Woman: femina, mulier
Song: camena, carmen
Happiness: beatitas, felicitas, gaudium, laetificus

A lot of names come from or have been influenced by these Latin roots (Bella, Felicity / Felicia, Carmen, Beatrix and Laetitia, to name a few) but Caroline clearly does not. I'm afraid your alternative meanings for Caroline are no more than wishful thinking.

I'm afraid, you'll have to explain, how "beautiful woman" and "song of happiness" come into your name, Caroline. We are curious to learn.Andy ;—)

Yes, and posting a picture of yourself, will not do (how much of a "beutiful woman" you are or how good a "song of hapiness" you sing, doesn't count)
