hello, im having trouble finding a meaning for the name of Govus i think its formally suppose to be a surname of english origin around the lancashire region. i've been on just about every name/meaning/origin website and none can give me a the meaning of this name.
please help any information would be appreciated.

No idea, just speculating - but if I had to put English surnames into something looking like Latin, I'd have invented Govus for Gow. (OK - Scottish surnames!) Perhaps someone else did that once?
Same principle perhaps as calling one's son Bob but having him on the records as Robertus. A misguided striving for the posh.
