where does the name Nectaire come from?
I`m curious to know where the name NECTAIRE come from.In Romanian this means "the juice of flowers".I also know that this was the name of a Greek saint-St.Nectarie from Egina, and of two other blessed.If anyone knows something about this,please e-mail me at cmustea@yahoo.com Thanks.

Nectaire is probably of the same derivation as the English word "nectar". This is the etymology of "nectar" (from http://www.etymonline.com/)"1555, from L. nectar "drink of the gods," from Gk. nektar, which is said to be a compound of nek- "death" (see necro-) + -tar "overcoming." My Greek dictionary gives the following etymology:from negtar > nogalon (delicacy)My saint books don't list a St Nectarie on anything alike. Pavlos knows more about Greek saints.Andy ;—)
