On Anton (Attn. Mike C!)
I just realized that Anton is also a name from Greek Mythology.According to the wonderful book (sadly untranslated in English) *Thesaurus of Hellenic Names* by Ares Diamantes, Anton was the name of one of Hercules' sons.

Cool, I'll add it.
Any idea what it means?

The ultimate derivation is most probably from "anti," meaning against. The "o" in Anton is an omega, implying grammatically that Anton means "he who is against/opposes".
Related words include *antosis*, "pushing against" and *antomai*, "to meet someone, especially in battle" (Liddell-Scott).
I would bet my last Eurocent that Anthony is also thus related :)
