Need meaning/origin of girl name

I named my daughter "Tamerin" 31 years ago after a female dog I had as a child. The name Tamerin was already on the dog's pedigree, and I guess I just liked it. Anyway, no one has ever heard of it and my daughter and I are curious as to it's meaning and origin. Anyone have any info on the name?

The only thing I can think of is that is sounds to be related to the name Tamara. Maybe they have the same meaning or close to. :)

Is there any chance the dog could have been named for the Tamarind Tree (a tropical tree with an edible fruit)?
