Re: The meaning of Harris
Told you I couldn't spell his name. Neither could most of the voters, which may have impacted his dismal record at the polls. My folks lived nearby in Jersey back then, which provided me chances to swing by and watch the insanity in The City.New York politics was also an "easy A" subject for term papers when I was in college, back around then (I took a helluva lot of Poli Sci courses for someone who ended up in industrial management). Even at our humdrum Midwestern college, we had our share of outrageous Black Activist P.S. profs, plus some white guys who ended up as policy wonks for Jimmy Carter. Push the right buttons in class and term papers, and they ate it up.Never took any mythology courses, tho. Would've helped now.

Noo Joisey, eh? I didn't think you were a native-born Southerner -- I couldn't detect a Southern drawl in your postings. :)I have, though, gotten the impression over the past month that you're somewhat of a Republican. :) One of my favorite quotes, by the witty composer and concert pianist Oscar Levant:"The only difference between the Democrats and the Republicans is that the Democrats allow the poor to be corrupt, too."-- Nanaea

Actually, my parents transferred from the Midwest to NJ when I was already in college, and subsequently went their own ways.My mother, however, later became NY-NJ big time, marrying an Italian-American mayor of a NJ town who was not only the son of a NJ mayor ('nother small town), but has splendid Noo Yawk connections as well: my stepdad is a first cousin of Sebastian Leone, former Borough President of the Bronx and now one of your Supreme Court justices. I've never met the cugino, which is a pity, since it'd be handy if I got pulled over on LI while stalking you... :)Don't know about the political connection. I abstained from voting in the last Pres election, as both candidates pissed me off. Have voted both sides of the fence over the years, even for Clinton (first time) and McGovern at times.Guess I'm just one of those independents; belong to Handgun Control and the Sierra Club but pro-life and wipe my cat's butt with ACLU mail. So much for labels.

US party anagramsDemocratic Party:"Mad erotica crypt": democrats admittedly have more fun (rumors about FDR's climactic demise, JFK's relationship with Monroe, Clinton's to-be-missed antics)
"A tidy correct map" is what inspired Clinton to order his his "cramped atrocity" in Belgrade.
"Red attrocity camp" is how the Democratic party as perceived by some extreme right-wing paranoiacs.Republican Party:G.W. Bush bacame "abruptly, a Prince" ! Hey, I thought the US was not a hereditary monarchy! We seriously doubt that US foreign policy will "appreciably turn". However the "aberrancy pulpit" is expected to turn the clock backwards with domestic issues such as abortion, etc.
"Burly crap in tape" is what got my favorite Republican, Richard Nixon, ousted (he even had a Greek VP!)
