Is this a rule?

I've been told that if I want to put my father's name as the middle name, he has to be deceased, but if I want to use his name as the first, it doesn't matter if he is living or deceased.

So, which would it be: Nathaniel Donovan (father's first name as middle name) or Donovan (father's first name as first name) Nathaniel. Does it matter?

The rule is, the richest elderly relative's name comes first, then the SECOND richest...

I don't think it is a rule but Donovan Nathanial flows better.
