Re: "Rembrandt" AND (his real name) "Van Rijn"
Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn: Rembrandt comes from ground form Reinbrand and is composed of regin indeed 'advise' and brand 'flaming (sword)'. What does that mean? Fiery advise?Harmenszoon means son of Harmenvan Rijn means From Rhine, as Rembrandt was born in Leiden, a city thorugh which the Old and New Rhine flow, his family probably lived nearby.Thirza

The combination of the two elements RAGIN and BRAND doesn't have to mean anything at all. In the Middle Ages a lot of times name elements were arbitrarily connected, they were taken from the parents' names.

If you really wanted a meaning, you could probably tranlate it to "war advisor", or something of the sort.~♥Eirena♥~
