I see a possible connection to the name Jericho which is of uncertain origin. Its two leading roots are "fragrant" and "moon."

I would like to find out the meaning and/or the origin of my name. My cousin who named me told me that she made my name up, but I feel that there has to be some kind of meaning to my name. I am hoping you can help me find out what it is. I tried to find out the meaning of the suffix and the prefix of my name, but still there's no luck.

According to one (questionable) source, Sherika is an Arab name meaning easterner (www.flick.com/onomastikon/England-Firstnames/African-American/ Arabic-Female.htm) The name is purported to be popular among African American Moslem converts.

My translation is not what one would consider academic but its based on my findings. You will not find this explanation expressed directly in any book. I gathered this from extensive study of languages, spiritual enlightenment, and realizing that the same words span across many languages...
